Why the file comes from us
Google serves extension packages as application/x-chrome-extension. When Chrome meets that content type on another site's link it tries to install the extension rather than save it, and the install then fails on permissions. Serving a copy from this domain as an ordinary attachment is what makes the file actually land in your downloads folder.
How to read the source code

- Drop it onto the extractor on the CRX Extractor home page. Everything runs in your browser; the file is never uploaded.
- Save the result as a .zip and open it like any other archive.
